Achieving Work At Home Goals
64At times it can get a little discouraging to work at home for a few different reasons. For starters, it can be a little bit lonely to work from home on your own rather than in an office surrounded by colleagues, though there are ways to combat this loneliness. In addition, you can feel a bit rudderless and without direction unless you establish and start working toward specific goals. Also, while it certainly feels great and liberating to be your own boss, it can also be a bit scary, because self employment does require quite a bit of discipline and organizational abilities. For a step by step plan about how to maximize your work at home efforts now and in the future, read this article.
First, establish clear and achievable work at home goals. This first step is critical whether you work for yourself or as an employee of (or independent contractor for) a work at home company. For instance, if you want to work a certain number of hours each week, write up a work from home schedule (for yourself if you are self employed, or to submit to your work from home employer).
Stick with the schedule and all of the other work at home goals that you establish for yourself no matter what. This is where discipline comes into play. Once you have established and started to maintain a regular work at home schedule, it is essential to keep assigning yourself more and more tasks (albeit at a reasonable rate). For instance, if you are self employed and you are niche blogging from home, start marketing your blogs more aggressively in order to get the word out about them.
Challenge yourself to make a little bit more money from your blogs (and/or your other work at home assignments) each month, but remember to keep your goals manageable or you could start to lose faith in yourself and your abilities.
Remember that there are a lot of people who made good money working from home, but in most cases, they worked extremely hard to achieve that goal. If you want to succeed as a telecommuter, you will really need to buckle down and be patient, not only with yourself but with the entire process. As is the case with any other type of job, you will have good days and bad days, but the key is to persist until you get what you want.
