Home Writing Jobs
64Work At Home Writing Jobs
There are different types of home writing jobs that you might want to consider. For instance, you might want to write web content for website owners who like to outsource some or all of their writing projects. You could be the writer that such people hire to complete all of the writing that they need. The great part about writing content for other people is that website owners are always in need of fresh content to add to their websites, so there is always a lot of work to be found.
Not only that, but once you establish solid working relationships with one or more website owners, you might find that they want to hire you to complete one writing project after another. If the idea of producing content for others appeals to you, there are several different websites that you might want to investigate, including ConstantContent, Textbroker and Elance, just to name a few. As home writing jobs, go, producing content for other people is one of the more popular choices. (College students, stay at home moms and stay at home dads often find that this career choice fits into their schedules quite well.)
Niche Blogging
Perhaps you are more interested in home writing jobs that involve working for yourself rather than working for other people. If that is the case, one of the options that you have is to create your own websites and then produce your own content for these websites or blogs. To make money from these blogs, you will want to choose your niche topics with great care, meaning that you will want to write on topics that large numbers of people are curious about.
To succeed in the blogging business, you will also need to learn about the various ways to optimize your websites for the search engines, as well as how to monetize them. (For instance, you can monetize your websites using the Google Adsense program.) You can also get involved in affiliate marketing by becoming an affiliate for websites that use affilates, such as Amazon.com.
Writing Articles for Online Publishers
When considering home writing jobs, another path you can take is the residual income writing path. This involves writing for websites like HubPages, eHow, Xomba and/or Infobarrel. These sites are all monetized in various ways to help you earn money. The more articles you produce for such sites, the more earning potential you will have.
What if you are also interest in offline writing for magazines or newspapers? If these home writing jobs interest you, your best bet is to study the magazines you like, review their submission guidelines with great care, and send in query letters. It’s essential to follow each editor’s querying and/or submission guidelines exactly if you want to hear back from them. If you deviate even a little from the submission guidelines, you might not hear back at all. (That is, your submission might not even be acknowledged.) Be forewarned that you will need to build up a pretty thick skin if you are going to send queries and/or submissions to print magazines on a regular basis because rejection is often a big part of offline writing life.
Maybe you will end up choosing two or more home writing jobs, which is what many freelance writers end up doing. For example, maybe you will occasionally write a piece for a magazine, while simultaneously maintaining one or more of your own blogs, and also contributing to some of the residual income writing sites like HubPages.
